E6 IR film!

Hi all. In Amateur Photographer (UK mag) 20th July '96 appears the
following;

YELLOW GIANT ADDS E6 IR FILM

French sources have revealed to AP that Kodak is set to introduce an E6
process-compatible infrared colour slide film towards the end of the
year.
The launch will signal the end of the environmentally-unfriendly E4
process, which survives only to process Kodak's current infrared colour
film. The new emulsion is said to incorporate technology from the
recently launched Kodak Elite II range of 35mm slide fims.
AP sought confirmation from Kodak UK, but a spokesperson told us: "I can
honestly say that I haven't heard about it, and I'm the E6 colour
specialist around here."
The E4 process has existed until now because of a US army tender and a
commitment to supply the same film technology for a specific period of
time.
Sources indicate that this period has now elapsed for E4, and this has
allowed the launch of an E6-compatible infrared emulsion from Kodak.
If and when an E6 colour infrared film emerges from the stable of the
Yellow Giant, it will have a clear run at that particular niche of the
film marketplace, as it'll be the only film available, after the demise
of the E4 version.
