Neither would IR exist!
I have a nice historical note from Goethe on my homepage. Appears he
gave rather negative comments on the experiments of the discoverer
of infrared, Wilhelm Herschel (actually William, but he was born in
Hannover and moved to England at the age of 21, so I guess it
originally was Wilhelm....also note the familiarity with the
listowners first name....:-)).
