This will most definately give acceptable results fer wide angle lenses.
However, this is ONLY because it is bring the focus into the Depth of Field
range afforded by the f8 apature.
I recommend taking the extra time and refocusing, after all it is only VERY
minor.
I often try and keep my lens between f5.6 and f16 anyway ... as this is
where my lens is gonna be the sharpest anyway.
Why not try both yourself, and see if *you* can notice the difference,
rather thna soley rely on yer knowledgeable friend's advice....
See Ya
(when the bandwidth gets better ;-)

For those with childhood memories of the Mister Sheen commercial
I dedicate this...
Ohhh ... you work all day, slave over a hot stove all night yet you *still*
have time for sadomasochism ... how do you do it?
a little man hurts me.
<ding>
Oh Mister Mean ... Oh Mister Mean
15 Minutes with him and you'll be blue and green
Studded belts and leather whips
Bondage trousers on his hips
Wack and punish as you dust with Mister Mean
Ohhhh he whips me around the house in minutes ... lets get cracking ...
