Re: backing paper

I recently found a Kodak booklet on IR and UV film that I bought at a swap
meet several years ago. Its the "Kodak Data Book on Infrared and
Ultraviolet Photography, 2nd edition" from 1947. In it they show several
different sizes of IR roll film with what looks like a standard paper
backing. Sizes that were available were 116, 616, 120, 620, and 127. The
book also shows that the spectral sensitivity of the film extened down to
~875nm. It was a rather slow film too, daylight exposure with a red 25A
filter was 1/25 @f8.

While this sounds a lot like the great-grandfather of Konica IR, it was
interesting to see that Kodak did make infrared 120 roll film at one time.
I wonder if the paper backing they used was just coated paper or something
else. Would some sort of metalic foil and paper laminate work as a
backing? I just might try this out with aluminum foil, an old 120 roll,
and a strip of 35mm HIE. Has anyone tried this before?
