If you ignore the F3AF, then Nikon's first AF slr was called the F501 in
Europe. It has a rather small but rectangular body with lots of corners
rather than curves. The F301 looks virtually identical, but was an
earlier manual focusing camera. The F401 (and the 401 series) was later
than the F501 and had the general appearance of a modern rounded Nikon
AF body, like the F801 (N8008), F90 (N90) etc.
