Yeah, I wondered about that too. 
Keep in mind I only used a Wratten #70, you might run off the visible 
'curve' quickly with opaque filters.
I am not sure though about spectral inconsistencies compared to 
outdoors....I *think* a flash bulb can be regarded a an ordinary 
black body light source, with a continuous spectrum to either side 
(both UV & IR).
The Schwarzschildt effect might be responsible for more 
inconsistencies than the flash itself....
