I am a recent subscriber so I apologize if these questions have been
     previously answered.

A local researcher called me about using IR for a study he is doing on
fruit orchard disease. My expertise is with the b/w IR, not the color.
     I
did warn him of the E-4 process and difficulty in getting processed. He
seemed to think that only the color IR would serve his purpose.

     1. Where can Ektachrome IR be sent for processing and how long
     does
     it typically take? Cost?

     2. I read or heard Kodak may make this available in E-6. How true
is this and when might this happen?

     3. Does a DIY E-4 kit exist?

     Bye,

       Steve,

Kodak recommends their color IR film for just such a purpose
(forest disease documentation) among other things.

If you call Kodak (1-800-242-2424, and Ext. # 19 = Professional
Products) and ask for a copy of their Color IR technical sheets,
they will send them to you for free.

This technical document includes information on the color shift
different organic bodies will produce, and there is some info.
on interpreting the color shifts. I posted a list of some color
shifts a few digests ago, maybe someone can send you a copy (I
     don't have one handy.)

As to your other question, as of yet nobody has seen this
E-6 IR film yet, so you and your friend are stuck with the
E-4 batch. The only place I know of in the U.S to have it
processed is : Rocky Mountain Film Lab
                    560 Geneva Street
                    Aurora, CO 80010
                    (303) 364 - 6444

Just include a letter explaining what you want (ex. Please
process, cut and mount this roll....) and a check for $19.50.
This fee includes return shipping, it generally takes them a
     few weeks.

The above information consitutes anything *BUT* an endorsement,
however, since I have had more than one unsatisfactory
experience with the way they hanle film (e.g. processing marks,
     etc...)

     Best of Luck,

     Adam Klyce
