Geoff is interested in IR because he likes the look, but is also working
on his science fair project which is looking for markings on birds that
might only be visible in IR or UV. Birds are tetrachromes and see into
the UV portion of the spectrum. Some have IR sensitivity also. The
current plan for UV is to do looooonnnng time exposures with a wratten
18a of feathers (because birds won't hold still). Eventually leading up to
photographing whole study specimens in museums, or figuring out a way to
do live action UV photography of the birds. Tips on UV would be
welcomed with delight. Geoff has been told that there are extreme
problems using regular lenses to do UV photography because regular lenses
flouresce with UV, so he is contemplating trying pinhole photography.

Current wishes: finding a used wratten 18a.
finding out whether near UV makes lenses flouresce.
finding out if video cameras record UV, and if so, how is it
      displayed.

I answered for Geoff because he has a very hectic day today.
