Russian IR films are not news. Back in 1988-90 my friend astronomer was using
Infrared film (or to be more correct in translation "extended red-sensitive")
for his scientific needs. That film, indeed, was to be stored at -20 Celsius.
That film (along with many other things) wasn't available for consumer market
and observatory used to buy it in huge metal cans with  about 600m of film.

I never had a chance to try it, but according to my friend comments it was
faster and less grainy than Kodak HIE.

Those manufacturers in Russia now trying to get any money from anywhere and the
West may expect some pretty rare and unusual items will be made in Russia to
be sold abroad. The quality is another issue (sometimes it may be really good).
