I would advise caution in using the +/- compensation dial. Although it
works well, sooner or later you will forget to return it to "zero" and
you'll thus shoot the rest of the roll at the "wrong" setting. So it is
much better to remain in "manual" mode and make the adjustments
yourself.

And remember, when Joe said you could "open" up a stop or two, that also
means you could instead choose to slow the shutter by one or two speeds.
This lets you hold the depth of field. Anytime photographers use the
word "stop" it can also mean a shutter speed unit.
