I'll be 39 next March, and when I started at Bell Labs, we didn't even have
CRT terminals; just Texas Instruments printing terminals that echoed back
whatever you typed on a roll of fax-like paper. You couldn't get more than
6 megs of RAM on the IBM mainframe, and then only at night when no one else
was on. I was a FORTRAN programmer, and also used PROLOG in school. When I
got my CS degree, we weren't even using Windows!

I love to hand color, but it's very meticulous work. I use mostly the
Marshall's oils and pencils. You can get them from Albums, Inc. Ask for
their free catalog 1-800-662-1000 or www.AlbumsInc.com/albums/
The oils are very forgiving in that if you don't like something, you can
wipe it off. They take several days to dry. Usually I only spot-color
parts of the image; I feel this adds to the surrealism. Two of my
hand-tinted HIE images got blue ribbons at PPANJ, one got a red. I haven't
got that scanner connected (yet), but I'll submit some to the gallery one of
these days . . .
