I contacted Wiley and sons (who published the most recent edition of the
book) and this is what they said:

'GIBSON/PHOTOGRAPHY BY INFRARED ITS PRINCIPLES & APPLICATIONS 0471-15895-X
WENT OUT OF PRINT IN APRIL OF 1984 NO NEW EDITIONS.'

So we have only missed it by 12 years!

So it was certainly not true to say there were no editions post war.
