Dan-- The polarizer is essential for color infrared film, as it is for any
color film. It will reduce glare and saturate colors. I have been rating the
film at ISO 200 and opening up about 1 stop, but that is the same as rating
the film at ISO 100 and shooting at the metered exposure. ( my quirky nature
I guess) My advice is to rate the film at ISO 100 with or without the
polarizer, make one exposure at the metered reading and bracket exposures by
+ 1/2 & - 1/2 stop from the metered exposure. On overcast days using an
orange filter, the sky will record as blue/gray. Don't be afraid to use other
filtration. A blue, green, or red filter produce some great effects. Hope
this helps.
