I assume that you're asking which does a better job with IR light. Modern
zoom lenses are extremely good, although focusing light through multiple
elements makes me wonder if there is a noticeable difference. From my
experience technique is usually more of a factor than equipment.

On another note, let me say that my favorite lens for shooting IR is far
and away my 35mm shift lens. I love shooting cityscapes/landscapes, often
including structures and the control over perspective is great. To get the
greatest possible sharpness, I use a tripod whenever possible, try to use
an F stop thats 2 or 3 stops down, and use the self timer to get the poor
man's version of mirror lock-up.
