a short bio.

Hi Gang!!!!

I am a new subscriber to this service, and as a condition, here is my short
bio., as prescribed in the "Greetings" e-mail from Willem.

Name: Peter J. Firth
Profession/Study: I am a commercial photographer by trade, a Fine Art
        photographer by desire and avocation.
Country: the good(?)'ol US of A
Personal history of photography: Was bitten by the "PhotoBug" when I
was 10 yrs. old (in 1962, for those who like to add
and subtract) when I found out my friend "Willy" was the son
of Jay Eyerman, Life Photographer par excellance (think
famous shot of theatergoers w/3D
glasses on, looking up at the screen. It was all
uphill from there. Jay taught me the key to great
images is based on what you feel inside, what creates
an emotion within your soul. Become in touch with that, and
the rest will follow.
I've had numerous one-man and group exhibits (to
toot my proverbial self promo horn), and am
generally anxious to constantly better myself, because,
after all, our craft is one of wonderment and constant
improvement, isn't it?
preferred subjects: everything and anything, I am a photo junkie, and
am constantly on the prowl for techniques,
formulas, etc. to better myself!
materials (film, filters, paper, chemistry): I am currently utilizing
       the Deltas (100 and 400), TMax(100 & 400) HIE, and I am
beginning to test with the new SFX 200. I am a freak for
Rodinal (different dilutions = different effects) and ID-11.
Oops, filters include Orange, Red (both 25 and 29),and
polarizers. My absolute favorite paper right now is Agfa
Insignia #3, with Forte Warmtone as a really close second. I
develop in Ilford Bromophen (different dilutions).
format (35mm/medium format/large format): I shoot all these,
especially 35 and 2 1/4 x 2 3/4.
Other strange hobbies: I play a lot of guitar and, of course, my wife
and kidlets. (KIDLETS!!! My oldest is 22, my youngest
is 11! This is DEFINITELY an antiquated term!)
How did you find out about this list: through GSMYTH's web page
expand on anything photographic you like: I promise, in weeks to
  come!!!
