I have always just let the depth of field take care of any focus shift.
Quoting Kodak - "A basis for trial is the extension of the lens 1/4 of 1
percent of the lens to film distance beyond the correct focus for visible
light". On a 210mm lens focused at infinity, this is .5mm or .02 inches. My
usual filters for HIE are the usual 25a or the B+W 090, which is close to
the same thing.
