I had heard of that too, and I know it was true for the slides made, say,
twenty or so years ago.

However, some of my slides are Lisco, and others are made by Toyo.  I
haven't got them here to look at, but I do know that one set has more dots
than the other (about seven dots), yet both brands have tested to be IR safe.

This leads me to the conclusion that the manufacturers don't bother with the
number of dots meaning anything(??).
