This presumes that the felt trap will allow an equalisation of
moisture, which I seriously doubt.

But would an ordinary film suffer much?
Heat in the dryer might be the worst off-spec argument, if soap
doesn't affect normal films either.
With a little luck, no water got in the cartridge at all (the felt
trap should keep out water better than vapor, but top and bottom of
the spool might be leaking worse).
