Goth girl and IR

Well, I said that I'd post with the results of my photo-shoot with my
friend, the Goth girl. We shot a total of eight rolls (12ex per roll),
with four of them in goth makeup. One of these was HIE (36ex on that
roll).

Setup: For lighting, I was using two Smith-Victor halogen lamps (3200K) at
f22. I screwed a dark-red filter on the lens, set the TTL meter to EI200,
and snapped away, bracketing one stop to either side of the indicated
exposure.

Results: First of all, they were over-exposed. I will probably try more
like EI50-80 next time. Second, you all warned me about her clothes, and
you were absolutely right. I think every piece of clothing she wore
_glowed_ on the film. Even the black cotton sheet I was using as
background came out light grey. I'm not sure of that was over-exposure or
IR reflection. Probably the former.

Plans: I need to make another contact sheet, purposely over-exposing to
see if printing-down can salvage these shots. While they are not what I
expected, some of them are certainly cool. Especially one where we wrapped
her head in cloth. She looks like some sort of ghostly madonna, come back
to tell us that "No, she didn't appear on the side of a shopping mall.
That was just the glass, silly."

When I have prints, I'll try to get them scanned, and I'll send them off to
the gallery.

Thanks, everyone for your advice.

Georges
