Diane Syme, USA (Minneapolis, MN).
I was 10 when I arranged my first RdarkroomS where I fixed blueprints (exposed
to the sun in a little frame). To clue you how long ago that was, there were no
color films, no Polaroids, no TV, no computers. (But there was infrared.) I
embraced monochrome photography and have done it all my life. For years I have
had a real darkroom, but not a fancy one. For me, photography has always been a
passion, not a business. I spent my career as a writer in advertising and
marketing. Now I am doing photography full time...for fun, exhibits, occasional
awards and a few sales. In the last year I have gone bonkers for infrared, and
been successful with a handful of shots.
Preferred Subjects: I prefer people shots, and altho infrared usually sends a
person out among the trees, I like to include people in my frames, in an
incidental manner.
Materials: I use both Konica and Kodak HIE, but prefer the latter. Altho I
shoot mostly with Nikon AF equipment, I always shoot IR with an old Nikon FT.
ItUs light, responsive and has an IF setting. I carry Nikkor 55 and 28 lenses,
each with a #25 red filter, so I can change fast.
Larger format: I do use my Mamiya 640, even my Linhof 4x5 occasionally, but not
yet for IF.
I enjoy being on the mail list, and have learned a lot. I especially like
browsing thru othersU IR photos. I will submit one to CorUs gallery soon. IUm
preparing a webpage and will let the world know when it's up and running.
Enough about me. Now, get out and shoot!
