Dimple pattern on kodak HIE

I see some of you have experienced the dimpled pattern whilst using
kodak HIE. We all know now that this is due the the pressure plate (my
pentax super A has one, but my cannon EOS600 has not). Readers of the
UK photomagazine Amateur Photography may remember Ron Spillman an
agaony aunt answering all our questions. I wrote to him about the
pattern and he suggested two things, Firstly send the camera to the
manufacturer to replace the back with a flat one, or , on a more
practical level to use wide black electricians insulating tape. I
tried the latter and it worked.. This was confirmed by a letter from
Kodak UK. 

Anybody else tried it?
