Ben, quit smoking the felt on the pool table! :=)
Use all cue balls, tungsten lighting, stop the lens down with a long
shutter and forget heating anything except the leftovers you might want
to snack on during the shoot........
I once thought I could capture the heat, even flames coming out of a
nitromethane-burning fuel funny car. Sorta did, but the white paint
on the body did just about as much reflecting as the flames gave off
directly. Same for shooting JFK's gravesite with the "eternal flame";
the grass around the site was just about as effective.
A friend, when he hear I was gonna shoot infrared film, told me to avoid
shooting a scene with overhead power lines, as if they'd give off anything.
Ohhhh, the misconceptions we have for this film.....
