Willem, I spoke with the tech reps at Kodak yesterday and they could not
answer my question as to why the new Ektachrome infrared film would have to
be loaded and unloaded in total darkness when the old version could be loaded
in subdued light. The infrared sensitivity of the new film is the same as the
old film. They may be erring on the side of safety, but I suspect the new
film can also be loaded in subdued light, as the two color emulsion layers
would still protect the infrared sensitive layer. The only way to know for
sure when the new film is available is to load it in subdued light (and
possibly waste $16 or so) to find out.
