Infrared printmaking..

<< a) What film used, what film developer used at what dilution, time &
temperature?
b) what paper & contrast filter (assuming VC) used, and paper developer
used? >>
It's been a while since I printed the originals, but if I recall, some were
the Konica IR 120 film in HC110 1:31 68 deg., 5 minutes, agitation 10 seconds
to start and 5 sec/min each minute following. The others were Kodak IR with
similar development.
Prints are generally done on Ilford MGIV because of its superior highlight
rendition. This is assuming a "normal" IR neg, but if the neg is
overexposed, which first time users are prone to do, I have to use the Kodak
Polycon III RC because it can restore contrast to these very heavy, yet flat
negs.
I use a Beseler 45VXL with a color head for all enlarging, and develop prints
in an Ilford 2150 tabletop processor; I'm sure many will frown on this use
of RC and automated processing, but understand that I am a custom production
lab and must be able to offer a cost effective product to my customers, most
of whom are wedding and portrait photographers.
For further reading, see the Ilfopro Newsletter and the Luminos Printmakers
Guild Newsletter. In recent issues, I have provided articles on
printmaking.
Hope this is helpful.
