According to Kodak's data sheet, the spectral sensitivity curve is
sort of sway-backed through the green region then picks up to a peak
near 650 nm and produces useful response before taking a nosedive a
bit short of 700 nm.  I don't know how that compares to the Ilford
product--or to Agfa--but it does reach somewhat into the near IR.  And
I believe someone has posted here some information about using it with
opaque filters--albeit at tiny effective EIs.

Yes.  That is the only way I've tried it or would try it except for
special effects.  At one time, I experimented with Kodalith Ortho and
Dektol for photographing the buildings of lower Manhattan, but these
days I'd tend to do a high-contrast or posterized conversion on the
computer, using relatively normal film.
