thoroughly confused now

Hello IR list,

I know I just got here, but I might as well jump right in.

I have some typical newbie questions. I HAVE read the IR FAQ, and have
looked at several articles but I am still confused about EI and filter
factors.

I am fairly new to filters, and still learning much photography so
HIE is a reach for me.

I am looking for starting point EI numbers to get me going.

I am using 35mm, have a 25A, 89B, and a 87C.

I will be metering TTL.

My confusion is about the EI, metering when using the 87C, and in
switching between filters in the same roll of film. I am sure I am
making this harder than it is, but I know it's not exactly basic.

If I am not mistaken, for TTL metering I can start with an EI of 400?
WHen I have the 87C filter on should I compose first without the
filter and then meter after it's on?

Then can I just switch between the 25A and the 87C as long as I meter
TTL? Hmmm.

Thanks a bunch right off the bat. . .
Jeff Green
