>You surely may first compose your scene without the heavy filter, then
place it over the lens and shoot. You may want to lock your camera on a
tripod so what you see in the viewfinder is what you will capture on film.
You may want to adjust the focus after framing and prior to exposure.
Usually, a lens will have a make for IR. Place the distance mark formerly on
the main focus indicator, then move the focus to the IR indicator---check
your camera's manual for more detail. It is a wise idea to load and unload
your IR in total darkness. You may want to check that your 'darkroom' does
not leak IR, which will not be visible. As to the developer you mention, I
have had no experience with it. Others in the group may have some advice.
