Hello

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
- - Name:
Erik Arisholm

- - Profession/Study:
Software Design Manager

- - Country:
Norway

- - Personal history of photography:
I started with a Minolta X-700 when I was living in Canada about 8 years
ago, at which time I was happy taking pictures of ducks and my wife. My
buddy always got much sharper results than me, so I bought my first
medium format camera (a Fuji GW 690). Now I am using an old Linhof Tech
III with a wide (90mm) and normal (150mm) lens. I have spent quite a bit
of time in the darkroom at "Toronto Image Works" before I moved back to
Norway. There I enlarged both B/W and color, and I had a phase where I
strived for simple compositions, highly saturated colors and high
accutance, of any subject. Now I am mainly shooting TMX 4x5 sheet film
and process and print at home.

Since most people tend to like my color photographs best, I now oppose
this by shooting only B/W:-) And I feel that the quality of my B/W
images are slowly improving. I am much more happy with my "good" B/W
images than with the color pictures, because there are less distractions
in B/W. This, I think, is especially true for portraits.

- - Preferred subjects:
Landscapes, "environmental" portraits

- - Materials (film, filters, paper, chemistry):
Film: TMX, Tech Pan (Agfa Ultra).
Paper: Ilford Multigrade. (Future plan: Platinum (If I can afford
it/figure it out))
Chemistry: Anything to get the job done - "standard" TMAX/Ilford
chemistry. Need to learn more about this.

- - Format (35mm/medium format/large format):
4x5", 6x9

- - Other strange hobbies:
Naah, I'm a very boring person.

- - How did you find out about this list:
I saw a reference to Willem-Jan Markerink IR home page on
rec.photo.equipment.large-format (I think)

- - Expand on anything photographic you like:
I want to learn more about alternative techniques and processes.
I have not taken a single IR picture ever, but I have this feeling that
LF infrared + platinum prints could be a good match.

Well, that's my story, hope to hear from you soon.

Erik
