I feel that the difference between #25 and #89B is more pronounced
with Ilford/Agfa and Konica (in order of importance) than with HIE.
To get a feeling for the difference: #25 has its 0% and 50%
transmission mark on 580nm and 600nm respectively, #89B on 680nm and
720nm respectively. Note that the foliage effect *starts* at 695nm,
but by no means you are near the limit of HIE, as that would take
another 200nm at least. Your eye can see a little over 725nm, beyond
that you record only invisible 'colors'. Darker filters like #87C do
make a significant difference, although it depends on your subject.
In snow the difference is less than with foliage, but still visible.
