Radiating Reels
on 10th June, someone wrote to the list:

This rather suprised me! I can think of only three mechanisms which
would cause a piece of plastic to EMIT radiation capable of fogging IR
film, none of which I could see neither applying nor effecting the
processing of IR film under normal conditions.
i) the plastic was radioactive
ii) the plastic was physically very hot, ie a couple of hundred degrees
and most likely not in a rigid enough state to roll any film on!
iii) the plastic was fluorescing(I think that's how it's spelt).
the final option probably being the closest to a reasonable explanation.
I'd be interested to find out from Kodak more about this phenomenon.

Peter B.
