Can't speak for Bender 4x5, but my wooden field camera works fine for IR.
It does have red leather bellows, we are talking old, which may be
different from the probable vinyl of the Bender.  My major problem as
stated earlier was in shooting verticals and protecting the film from light
entering through the dark slide trap--don't take the slide all the way out.
 I also, out of fear, lay some aluminum foil over the top of the bellows
when shooting.  If you have access see much discussion on IR safe film
holders!
