I can only guess that you are put off by the relatively larger grain
size of HIE.  In lieu of trying to find a developer that will mush up
your negatives I will give a couple of suggestions.

1.)  Use Konica's IR.  If you look at the images on my Web site, you
will see sharp Konica images that work very nicely.  I shoot this film
slow (normally about EI 8), and the grain size is of little consequence.

2.)  Go larger.  I develop HSI (the 4X5 version of HIE) with Rodinal. 
This developer would create Jupiter-sized grain with the 35mm version,
but once you step up to 4X5 it simply gives you nice, crisp negatives.
