Re: Scanning vs Prints
>Also ... are slide scanner so much more expensive than good flat-beds?
Andy,
I've been looking at slide scanners, in the UK the Nikon Coolscan can =
be found for =A3499 (+VAT) for an internal version, add =A3100 for an =
external SCSI version, resolution up 2700dpi giving an image of =
around 2500*3800 approx. The Nikon Super Coolscan can be found for =
=A31200 (+VAT) and is much better. Epson also do a slide scanner, =
about =A3330 (+VAT) but only gives a resolution of 1200dpi (4800dpi =
software interpolated.) For quality you can't beat a drum scanner, =
nor can you afford one, I wouldn't even begin to look at prices. Also =
check out what Minolta and Polaroid have on offer, hopefully slide =
scanner prices will soon come down, but overall expect to pay =A3500 =
plus for one of any quality. So they're not really that much more =
than expensive than good flatbeds.
Regards
Gavin Wrigley
