I won't comment on most of your response because most of this doesn't
really relate to the list (and we just have an honest difference in
opinion). I will, however, address the above matter quickly.
I have done a fair amount of research as far as looking for the real
source of information concerning the longevity of RC prints. Nearly all
of the opinions go back to the 1970s when RC was introduced. At that
time, as has already been stated, the papers were horrible and
worthless. Twenty-five years later we are not using the same papers.
The defects have, for the most part, been fixed. When I say "for the
most part," I mean that there is one problem with the longevity of RC
papers that remains uncorrected. It is possible that untoned RC papers
may silver out under certain conditions (no need to go through the
complete explanation). I have seen the damage. The correction? Tone
the papers - simple as that. Tone with selenium, sepia, gold, or Kodak
Brown Toner. That done, there is no evidence that any modern papers are
any less archival than fiber (if there is PLEASE let me know).
Oh yeah, probably most of my prints would be on fiber, though I've found
that I have not been able to duplicate the color of MGIV prints toned in
sepia on any of the fiber papers I've used. I consider coloration more
important than surface, as this is considerably more noticeable after it
is put behind glass.

Sure, I'd like to, although I don't know if I could participate all the
time. I work for myself and find my free hours getting less and less.
That's why I posted my address for anyone wanting to send me a
postcard/print. I would not want to commit to anything I couldn't
follow through on.
Cheers -
