Jon, the new EIR film does not have to be loaded or unloaded in total
darkness , despite the warning from Kodak. Only HIE needs that precaution.
The EIR film can be loaded and unloaded with confidence in subdued light,
based on my shooting of at least 7 rolls of the new film.(focus adjustment is
also not a requirement).
