Andy, I just solved the sprockethole problem. There's a
tape splicer gadget for splicing 35mm film strips. The
actual tape has sprocket holes in it and the gadget lines
up the films. It was made by a company in Westchester,
New York some years ago. Does anyone know
if it's still manufactured and whether or not the tapes
are still available? The company sold audiovisual
