Were I work (MA Conservation of Fine Art) we use studio flash for
our IR light source when photographing the works.

We use Kodak HIR with a Kodak 87c filter, exposed at about 100 asa
and developed in Ilford ID-11 stock solution for 15 minutes. This
gives a slightly high contrast on the negative, but this is what we need
to show the information we are trying to record.

You can also use normal tungsten lights or even better tungsten halogen
lights if the heat they give off is not going to cause a problem.

The same will apply if you are using EIR you will just have to try a few
test
exposures to find out what asa gives you the results you require. I would
also presume that no colour correction filters would be needed if using
tungsten as this is just a yellow/orange light and you would normally use
a yellow filter anyway.

Please get in touch if you would like any more help/information.
