I have seen various techniques for creating different effects to look like
Infrared.  My first guess would be that the shot was digitally manipulated.

For fun, try going to the Channels pallette in Photoshop, and turn off all
but the red channel,  Apply a slight blur and increase the contrast.  It
looks kinda like Infrared.
