Ta for your response... in response to your note on the stop bath and 
Farmer's... maybe there was more to it... maybe someone poured something a 
little more spicy with the stop bath... who knows? All I am aware of is 
that when it came to the 'what the **** happened and why' stage of the 
incident, the most anyone admitted to was pouring acid stop bath down the 
sink without washing... anyway...

A little note I found particularly interesting... people are commonly 
careful about the perils of chronic exposure to sodium thiosulphate in the 
darkroom, and while thses are well founded, are you aware that sodium 
thiosulphate is actually a cyanide antidote which may be injected 
intravenously to 'cure' cyanide poisoning? There is another compound which 
is much more effective (its name eludes me for the moment) however, I am 
led to believe that thiosulphate can still be found in use.
