I'd like more info on the technique as well.

One thing, if you keep the 120 paper full width and tape the 35mm 
along the center of it, the paper will act as your "guide" to keep 
the film straight.  I think taping only the two ends would be needed.

How do the lengths compare?  It should be about two rewound 120 rolls 
for a single 35mm 36 exposure.
