Hi all,

I have to agree with your comment Jaap. When comparing my personal *MC
& EII* glass to those of my previous employers (carl zeiss) I was often
dissappointed. However, I purchased the Bronica 100-220 zoom earlier
this year and it's a very impressive lens. Being a brand new Aspherical
(IF) design it really is first rate, very *VERY* sharp and unusually
contrasty for a medium format optic - great kit!

The 100-220 Bronny lens *is every bit as sharp* as my 35-70 2.8D Nikkor
if that's any help to you. As for ease of use the internal focus makes
it a snap to focus (unlike my 180mm Nikkor). And wide open at f4.8 this
lens is *incredible*, stick in a roll of Velvia and the images are as
sharp as ANY of my fixed focal lengh Nikkors.

There is a downside however, this kit is far harder to use successfully
than that of Nikons, and with the 100-220 in tow "it's bloody heavy"
*from pain comes pleasure & all that*.

On a brighter note, B&H are advertising the *NEW* 45-90 f4-5.6 on their
site for $1400 - a heap load of cash I know (about the same price as
70mm kit). If this newest Tamron/Bronica lens is anything like it's big
brother I'll sell my old 40MC & 75PE (and whatever else of value) to get
one.

Good luck with the panoramic backs - mines on hold now the 45-90 has
appeared on the scene!

Cheers,
Chris Gibbs
