IR in overcast

I'm amazed at the variety of answers we're getting on this question! We
shot a roll of HIE in warm overcast conditions over New Year, using
incident readings from the Weston V at 200ASA, and got really thick
negatives, about 2 stops overexposed compared to the few sunny shots on
the roll. The key is the 'warm' bit, I suppose.
The shots we have printed are good, but somewhat flattened in the
highlights by halation. We will definitely be doing more shooting
without sun. Similar results in fog last year, too.
As a result we have three bodies loaded with HIE and waiting for rain to
complete tests at three different speeds, with a lot of bracketing to
get a feel for the different requirements.
In the meantime, Greg, just give it a go at what your meter says, but
bracket at least 2 stops either way until you find out what happens.
Also as a result of this experience and the recent thread on IR
metering, I'm working on a meter to give an idea of visible to IR ratios
in different conditions. I'll report any useful progress.
