Pinholes - after the fact

I just processed a roll of Konica 750 shot at EI 6 NTTF with a #29 filter
(Rodinal 1:50 [distilled water] 68 deg F, 6.5 minutes, 5 sec agitation
every 30 sec) and the negs look basically fine. There is one pinhole however.

Then, I processed a roll of HIE shot at EI50 NTTF with a #29 filter (D76
straight [tap water], 68 deg F, 10 minutes, 2 inversions every 30 seconds)
and the negs again look fine. But nearly every one has a pinhole and some
have two.

In both cases I used a water [tap] stop bath and Kodak rapid fix (no
hardener) followed by rinse in tap water, 30 sec dip in photoflo, and
unforced drying (no heat).

(I confess, I was too lazy to try to get a gallon of distilled water up to
125 deg to mix D76 for this one job. Also, from comments on the list and
the rec.photo.darkroom group, I understood Rodinal does not give great
contrast and exaggerates the grain with HIE, which I wanted to avoid.)

Any new thoughts on preventing the HIE pinholes would be welcome, but I
will now try D76 in distilled water to see if that helps.

Given that I now have several nice negs with pinholes, I am now very
anxious to get a variety of suggestion on how to print. The 35mm neg seems
too small to spot and I have had no luck with bleach or knifing the black
spots out of the print. I use mostly Ilford Multigrade FB IV and Brilliant
(Zone VI) VC papers. Re-spotting those bleached or knifed areas leaves a
more conspicuous fix than the spotting for dust busting. Any ideas or
references?
					Thanks,
						 EltonK

PS: Some of my HIE negs also have extended hair-line holes clearly from
in-camera dust/lint most likely from fussing in the changing bag while
loading my Mamiya 6MF's 35mm panoramic adapter by feel alone. I'll have to
clean the bag and dust the camera's innards, but this is another reason I
am interested in how best to repair the prints.
