neocyanine
I've got a book about IR photography from 1930s. Author of that book has
prepared IR sensitive plates himself. I've tried his recipe with neocyanine.
The result was not bad (at prize about 1/10 of Kodak high speed IR film),
but sensitivity was lower that he reported. I think it was because I had to
use panchromatic film instead of non sensibilized plates and dyes already
adsorbed on silver halide crystals probably competed with neocyanine. On
negative there were some spots probably after air bubbles I have never met
before. Film was not sensibilized homogenously, too. The author suggested
to do a short wash in 60 % ethanol after sensibilization, but I didn't wash
it. May be it would improve results. In my opinion the main problem is with
dyes already on film. Does somebody have any suggesstions? Thanks,
Fi.
