Hi Chris,
I sold Jim a larger piece, which he then cut down to exact size
himself. This is 0.4mm thick polyester, and to fit between the film
rails you must be sure that the film rails are slightly taller, say
0.5mm. This is the case in my EOS-1 (forgot which camera Jim
uses, but not all cameras have 'tall' film rails).
If you cut it down to exact size yourself (needs to fit between the
rails on top and bottom with 0.1mm accuracy, to avoid light leaks),
it costs US$ 1.- pro square centimeter.
If 0.4mm is too thick for your camera, I can also supply you with a
very thin type of polyester, 0.1mm, but only in the lighter color
#87. US$ 0.50 pro square centimeter.
I still haven't bought a decent roller blade cutting device that
allows me to cut within 0.1mm accuracy (*and* consistent once
set/adjusted), but I think I have found a good solution for that too,
if you don't want to cut the filter yourself. But I need a very
accurate measurement of the width between your film rails in that
case. US$ 2 and US$ 1 pro square cm respectively.
Btw, I recently discovered that this 0.4mm quality is quite
vulnerable to heat....I already discovered that with high-intensity
flash lights (Sure-Fire), but now I even got fading on my
flash....and oddly enough, the fading shows the exact same pattern as
the flash reflector, like louvres in front of a
window....weird....8-))
The 0.1mm quality doesn't fade, it only buckles a bit....
PS to the list: can anyone help Chris with changing his mailer
settings to avoid the below binary garbage? I tried to help him in
private mail, but that hasn't worked yet (I do have some notes about
this problem on my homepage, but they are written by someone
else....if anyone could check the validity of those, please do!)
