My short Bio

  • From: "Jd" <nubbin@xxxxxxxxxxx>
  • Subject: My short Bio
  • Date: Mon, 16 Mar 1998 15:56:03 -0800

- - Name:
    My name is Jd.

- - Profession/Study:
Mainly Computer networking and administration with a little programming
experience.

- - Country:
    United States

- - Personal history of photography:
My last two years in high school I was a photographer for yearbook.
While in college I have taken a few courses in photography, I mainly took it
because I liked it as a hobby and never really thought of it as a profession
for me.

- - Preferred subjects:
I love taking pictures of scenery and stars. Lakes, rivers, mountians
etc. I also like to take pictures of unusual things as well as somewhat
spuratic events (comets, lightning). I have a really cool photo of
Hale-Bopp.

- - Materials (film, filters, paper, chemistry):
Hmmm.... I suppose my fav BW film would have to be T-max 100, 400 if I'm
shooting at night. With yellow and red filters. As far as papers and
chemistry I've really only used what was required for my classes which would
be D-76 and Polymax RC II and FineArt Fiber. Although I must say that I
prefer RC to Fiber for just class work.

- - Format (35mm/medium format/large format):
Well until I get a larger format camera(which means until I get the
money), I'm stuck with the good old 35mm.

- - Other strange hobbies:
Strange hobbies? I don't have any strange hobbies they are all normal...
atleast to me they are. :)

- - How did you find out about this list:
Now you are asking me to remember something... If you knew me, You'd
know that this is not something I can often do. :) I supposed it was from
surfing the net and I stumbled accross it in Yahoo.

- - In case you already have your own IR-Gallery on the web, please
state the URL/address: (I will then also add your site to the overview of
IR-Galleries on my homepage!....think of the fame you can get....:-))
Well I used to have a photo gallery but I hate keeping it up, so I took
it down. I don't have the time to mess with html right now. Maybe later.

- - Expand on anything photographic you like:
Well lessee, I became interested in IR photography when it was an
assignment for class at college. I looked around on the net to get an idea
of what to expect. I must say that IR is one of the most interesting, fun
types of photography there is. I mean talk about distorting reality as we
know it. To me, looking at an IR photo gives me this warm feeling. Like no
matter what the temperature was when I took the photo it always seems like
the setting is warm enough to go about in shorts and a t-shirt. I remember
coming accross some photos from some castles in England that were itaken in
IR, I thought, wow this is something I defenetly want to get into. One of
the things I like most about IR film is the halation(sp?) effect you get
from Kodak HIE film. I took a picture of a cross around some trees and when
I printed it, The cross was glowing, it was the most erie effect I'd seen in
all of my photopgrahy experience. If anyone wants to see this photo just let
me know and I'll be happy to send it to ya, As soon as I get an IR photo
gallery it'll be the first photo up.

    I'll c-ya on the list!
