This experiment is only valid if you can compare the alu results with
a fully absorbing pressure plate....one variable left is how much
each and every pressure plate reflects to begin with....it might be
opaque to the eye, but can be highly reflective for IR.
I believe this is not uncommon with anodized (sp?) aluminium
(aluminum for the Yanks....;-))
OTOH, my Horizon 202 panorama camera doesn't have any kind of
pressure plate (the 24x58mm frame runs over a set of cylindric film
rails, with a variable distance of 5-20mm from the plastic back door.
And I can't say the highlights are less than in my EOS-1 (for samples
see my homepage, URL in the footer).
I have been pondering about adding an alu sheet in the 202, but never
went in experimentation mode....
