Thanks for those valuable notes from Barnbaum. Which begs the real questions:
why are prints typically displayed under such poor lighting that we lose the
very richness we work so hard to achieve. And why don't we develop
treatments, coatings, whatever that will come closer to what the print looks
like with a sheen of water on it. Perhaps photographers should "prescribe"
the intensity of light her or his prints are to be exhibited under; my own
personal preference, the more light the better! My own experience, when you
"wet-up" the print, you recapture the subtle highlights and the magic which a
dry print (even with the finest air-dried glossy surface, suhc as Kodak Elite)
never quite matches.
