Just my 2c worth, but I found that I couldn't get enough contrast out of my
HIE with XTOL. I love the developer for TMX and TMY, but after four rolls
in a row of thin HIE negs (and after four different runs of film with
incresingly long processing times) I have returned to using D-76 for 8.5
minutes.
