Reticulation can also occur with some film emulsions when you go from a very
warm solution to a cold one. The emulsion that was swelled to capacity is
all of a sudden forced to contract because of the temperature change.
I had it happen once when I was covering an easter egg hunt for a newspaper
many years ago. It took me two years before someone gave me an adequate
explanation. No one at the paper had ever seen anything like it.
